Dr Ho Gay Hui  & Dr Koong Heng Nung

Dr Ho obtained her FRCS in General Surgery in 1996 and a Doctorate in Medicine in 2004. She trained in the Breast Service, Department of Surgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York from 1998 to 2000. Upon her return, she developed her interest in breast surgery and led the Breast Service at National Cancer Centre Singapore from 2006. For her exceptional care and commitment to patients, she has won numerous accolades, including the prestigious SingHealth GCEO Excellence Award/Outstanding Clinician Award and the Healthcare Humanity Award in 2011. In addition to extensive involvement in breast cancer research, Dr Ho has also been fervent in public education on breast cancer prevention, screening, treatment and survivorship.


Dr Koong Heng Nung is a general surgeon by training and qualifications. Having obtained his Masters in General Surgery in 1993, he went on to specialise in thoracic surgery at the renowned Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York from 1998 to 2000. Although he largely practised thoracic surgical oncology specialty at the NCCS from 2000 to 2014, he continued with emergency general surgical service at SGH, including trauma. In his tenure as the Head of Surgical Oncology at NCCS from 2008 to 2014, he repeatedly won awards for excellent service, exemplary educator and innovations in service improvement.  Dr Koong is well known for improving medical practices at the department & management level and was the person one who initiated the smoke free pub legislation in Singapore. His practice consist of a combination of thoracic surgery and general surgery.


Together, as a husband and wife team, they have been championing a global vision that protects children from the ravages of nicotine addiction since 2010.
